Autism and ADHD/ADD assessment and medication initiation

  • An assessment programme for ADHD/ADD and autism combined with medication initiation that includes tests, eight conversations plus emails and phone calls. Together with the Start conversation, that's 9 conversations in total.
  • The initial call is 45 minutes. After that, there are five 45-minute calls and three 20-minute calls. Email and phone follow-ups are included within the programme. The conversations can be conducted in person or by video/phone.
  • Issuing of any prescriptions is included in the treatment course. Consultations involving the issuance of prescriptions for central nervous system stimulants must, in accordance with the Danish Health Authority's guidelines, take place in person in Hillerød or Tornby at least every three months.

 

Clinical trial

The package includes testing 1-2 methylphenidate preparations, which are the Danish Medicines Agency's first choice for treating ADHD.

If you wish to apply for a subsidy for lisdexamfetamine, e.g. Elvanse, atomoxetine must as a starting point be tried first. Alternatively, the doctor must be able to justify why atomoxetine has not been attempted. Since atomoxetine normally requires a longer trial period, it may therefore take longer before treatment with lisdexamfetamine can be initiated.

If there is a need to trial further medication, we recommend purchasing a number of short follow-up consultations for the trial of the next preparation.

In some cases, based on an individual assessment, the doctor may recommend that you proceed directly to a trial of atomoxetine. In that case, this trial may be covered by this package.

 

  • At the end of the programme, written information is sent to your GP, who is then responsible for further treatment. General practitioners are not allowed to change the medication or dosage without the agreement of a psychiatrist.
