Description
A short specialist statement is less comprehensive than the service. Psychiatric specialist certificate. The statement is used, among other things, in connection with insurance and pension cases, assessments of industrial injuries, or as documentation for municipal and public authorities, where a BRIEF status is desired. Often as a new status, where a more detailed specialist medical report has previously been prepared.
Course of events
The process consists of a conversation lasting approximately 90 minutes during which the specialist will go through:
- Relevant background circumstances
- Past and present mental health symptoms
- Previous treatments and courses
Content of the declaration
Following the discussions, a 2–3 page statement is prepared, which typically contains:
- Brief description of mental disorders and symptoms
- Brief psychiatric assessment
- Assessment of current functional ability and impact on daily life
- Diagnosis and prognosis
The statement can be used directly in cases where an independent and professionally based assessment of the current mental health and functional level is required.
