Psychiatric statement

A psychiatric specialist statement is a comprehensive document that describes a person's background, upbringing and life up to the present day. Particular events that have had an impact on the current state of mental health are described.

The psychiatrist then writes a professional assessment of how any illnesses, stresses and strains affect the current situation and an assessment is given of the psychiatric diagnoses that the psychiatrist believes describe the person's mental state.

Finally, the psychiatrist will provide a prognosis of how the mental state will develop and, for example, affect your ability to function and work in the future.

Different needs for a specialised medical certificate

There are many situations where a psychiatric specialist's certificate may be needed. This can be in connection with an assessment of how mental disorders, stress and strain affect functional and work capacity.

Usually, it is a municipality, insurance company, State Educational Support, Labour Market Insurance or other client that initiates and pays for a specialist medical certificate to be prepared. In other cases, private individuals, lawyers, trade unions and associations have had a specialist psychiatric report prepared to ensure a detailed professional assessment of a psychiatric problem.

Extensive experience

Peter Mark has extensive experience in preparing specialist psychiatric reports, which are usually based on a two-hour interview and a review of medical records, medical opinions and other information relevant to the case.

Examples of testimonials

In a number of situations, you may need an opinion from a specialist in psychiatry.

The opinion is based on previously available information as well as the psychiatrist's interview and professional judgement. The scope therefore varies from case to case.
