Jytte Vikkelsøe's method

The mythical impasse method uncovers your conflict patterns based on your upbringing and early experiences that have characterised you and now unfold unconsciously in your relationship. These unconscious dynamics create a recurring pattern of conflict that few are able to break on their own, often leaving you feeling powerless, frustrated, angry, bitter, sad - or even divorced.

Taking childhood wounds with you

We all develop strategies as children to adapt to our environment and gain love and acceptance. Although our parents love us, they themselves are often scarred by their own childhood experiences, which affects their ability to be there for us as children to varying degrees. These experiences of neglect and the wounds they leave behind are carried with us into our adult love relationships, where they can lead to disagreements.

Lasting changes

Many forms of couples counselling do not go deep enough to address this imbalance effectively. There is a limit to how much good principles of better communication can do when unconscious childhood wounds and learnt strategies for gaining acceptance and love are at stake. It is therefore necessary to first understand and integrate these elements to create lasting change.
